Survey, Stakeout and Global Positioning System

Survey and stakeout

Survey & Stakeout
Having our own professional surveyors on staff eliminates delays in getting projects started and keeping them on schedule. Schlouch Incorporated’s use of Geodimeters (Robotic Survey Instruments), GPS (Global Positioning System) and fully equipped field vans ensure accuracy and problem-free excavation resulting in quality, productivity and savings on every job.

Global Positioning System
Schlouch Incorporated has installed Trimble RTK Global Positioning Systems (GPS) on: one CAT D8T and one CAT D6T that work with a fleet of CAT 627scrapers and articulated dump trucks; three John Deere 700J, two John Deere 850J, and one CAT D5 used for fine grading and slope work.  In addition, there are 12 portable GPS rover units in operation for instant grade and location surveys to assist all earthwork and utility work.  Schlouch also maintains a combination of base station and virtual reference systems to operate up to ten GPS sites at the same time.
With these systems, the machine operator has real time information right in the cab.  This:

  • increases efficiencies
  • eliminates rework
  • improves quality of production
  • decreases project time frame
  • improves safety

Sitech Technologies installs the GPS systems and provides training for Schlouch operators.  The Trimble GPS system is an automatic earthmoving grade control system that puts design surfaces, grades and alignments inside the cab.
